About

Young Living

Gary Young and his wife Mary founded Young Living in 1993. At the time, Gary Young had already discovered the incredible power of essential oils, but because the quality of available oils varied so greatly, he’d been unable to fully harness their potential. In a bid to supply plant oils of consistent quality, Young developed a system of standards known as Seed to Seal® that guarantee you only get the best nature has to offer. No synthetics, contaminants, cheap fillers, or additives such as vanillin are ever used.

In addition, plants are sourced carefully from vetted corporate-owned farms, partner farms, and Seed to Seal-certified suppliers. Young Living only selects the strongest seeds from strong thriving plants and ensures they are hand-weeded and no toxic chemicals (such as pesticides and fungicides) are used. Plants are also harvested at peak times and distilleries are located on site to prevent contamination. Moreover, every batch must pass several tests prior to being shipped.

About production

Gary Young’s mission and vision to produce the best essential oils in the world helped to transform and redefine the market. What once started as a small organic farm and a simple, home-built distillery, is now an enterprise and community that spans six continents and more than 25 open markets. Young Living currently owns or partners with 8 farms in North America, 2 in South America, 5 in Europe, 2 in Australia, 6 in Asia and 1 in Africa. Whatever the ingredients and wherever the oils are produced, the company’s quality control team use a range of physical, chemical, and microbiological tests to measure the exact components and properties of its essential oils in order to guarantee the best possible quality. Funny fact: by the time you open a fresh bottle of Young Living essential oil, it’s been tested almost 100 times.
